GM Parts Codes

I often get customers who want to know information on a truck that you can't know without digging deep. "Which version of the motor does that 2005 Duramax have?" "Is that the 5 speed or 6 speed Allison transmission." "What's the size of the fuel tank."
Because there are often multiple options available each year for each model, the first answer you find from your internet search could be wrong. Luckily, GM made it a little easier to confirm which is which. The best way to confirm exactly which option is equipped with the truck is to find the SERVICE PARTS IDENTIFICATION (SPID) sticker that lists the Regular Production Option (RPO) codes. It is usually located in the glove box and has a series of 3 digit codes that you can match against a database to figure out what's what.

Here is a great resource i found to decode the 3 digit RPO codes. https://d354nuoz4t18d4.cloudfront.net/b0a0b93e061c59a634fb0e1a49af89e6/images/custom/rpoCodes.pdf
